shortlist no. 23 / january 28, 2011
So….this is embarrassing. I’ve just found all these little scraps of paper I’d stuffed into a corner of the kitchen. What are they? Oh, yes, my shortlists. In all the excitement that’s come about in the last few months, I have completely neglected my shortlisting. The dinner parties have continued – just in case that was keeping you awake at night – but my posting of them, for awhile now, hasn’t. I dont’ know whether it’s because I’m now finding shortlists far less exciting than sausage lasagna or butterscotch, or if I’m just getting lazy. Either way, I promise to try and fill in whatever gaps I can, with shortlists from way back in January. Starting….now.
This was one of those every night dinners when we were staying with our neighbor, Nicolette. To make the chickens (chooks in Australia. For realz), just turn up the barbecue really high, stick the chickens on a tray inside, then turn the heat down and let them cook for 45 minutes with the lid closed. To make the grilled apricots and peaches, just cut the fruit in half and remove the stone, then plop them flesh-side down straight onto the hot barbecue for a few minutes. Delish.
